“In our article, we seek to contribute to the understanding of the touristic discourse on nature as a place for recovery by illustrating an interpretation of how the tourism activity of hiking in nature is portrayed in films about hiking. By a visual discourse analysis, we analyze 6 films about hiking to identify what portrayed ontological understandings of nature as a place for recovery that exist in the films, what representational portrayals of natures’ impact on the hikers’ health that are visible, but also how the relation between the hikers and nature is portrayed.”
